The plot thickens on Ravenswood, according to this sneak peek from tonight’s episode (Season 1, Episode 3: “Believe”). In it, we see the Matheson family discussing their late father’s high school girlfriend. Awkward conversation much?

The scene takes place in the Matheson kitchen. Siblings Olivia (Merritt Patterson) and Luke (Brett Dier) are poking around on their father’s computer when their mother, Rochelle (Laura Allen), comes in with the groceries.

“Who’s Abby, Mom?” Luke asks Rochell. Apparently, the police are looking for her, presumably in connection with the Matheson patriarch’s murder.

“The police think she was breaking up our marriage,” Olivia clues in their mother, who seems less than interested in discussing the topic. After all, she is currently suspect #1 in the murder of her husband. Even her own son thinks she may have done it.

But Luke and Olivia don’t give up so easily. With some needling, they get their mother to talk: “Abby Wheeler was your dad’s girlfriend in high school. He said that she was trying to contact him. Warn him that he was in danger because of his suspicions about this town.”

If you, like Luke, were guessing that Abby and Mayor Matheson might have been having an affair... then, you would be wrong. Because, according to Rochelle, “Abby’s been dead for over 20 years.” Bam! We actually didn’t see that coming, though given that one of this show’s main characters is now a ghost, maybe we should have.

So, if Abby has been dead for 20 years, then how was she contacting Mayor Matheson? Was she also a victim of the curse? If so, you’d think the Ravenswood Police Department would know that and wouldn’t be wasting their manpower looking for her. And what suspicions did Luke and Olivia’s dad have about Ravenswood? Is that what got him killed?! Ugh. So may questions. We hope Ravenswood answers at least a few in tonight’s installment.
