R&B Divas Atlanta fans have much to celebrate since TV One announced that they’ve picked up the beloved show for a third season! But that’s not all — R&B Divas L.A., the spin-off of the hit Atlanta show, has also been renewed for a second season!
Both shows have been slated for a 2014 return, with the press release stating:
“The most recent seasons of the Atlanta and Los Angeles series, as well as their post-season reunion specials, enjoyed stellar ratings success in 2013—marking some of our highest-rated telecasts in network history. The divas are not only wildly talented and celebrated music artists, but relatable women with joys and struggles that resonated strongly with our viewers. We look forward to chronicling more of their stories, and drama, in these upcoming seasons.”
So, what can we expect from a brand new season of R&B Divas Atlanta? A few of our favorites missing in action! According to the press release, Syleena Johnson, Angie Stone, Monifah Carter, and KeKe Wyatt will be returning, which means Season 1 vet Nicci Gilbert is no longer in the lineup and neither is Season 2 newcomer LaTocha Scott.
Were the ladies given the boot? Well, maybe not.
In an interview with Madame Noire, Nicci said that she thought the franchise “wasn’t good look” for her, but she will still be behind the scenes with Faith Evans as producer. And when it comes to LaTocha, we think her absence may have something to do with the rumors that she may be reuniting with her Xscape band members Tamika Scott, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and Kandi Burruss on Kandi’s reality show, Real Housewives of Atlanta.
For now, it hasn’t been revealed who will fill in for Nicci and LaTocha, but whoever these ladies are, we hope they’re ready for the craziness that will no doubt happen.
