Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson has made a number of questionable decisions in his lifetime — changing his last name legally to “Ochocinco” comes to mind — and now he’s adding another to that list.
According to TMZ, the football star has petitioned a judge to lower his monthly child support payments to Andrea Pearson, the mother of his 3-year-old son.
Chad’s been paying out $5,420 a month to Andrea to take care of their little one, but claims that he “finds himself without a contract and without a team. Simply [I am] unemployed,” and can’t come up with that kind of cash any more.
Chad adds that even if he were to start playing with a team again, at the ripe old age of 35, he’d never make the kind of money he used to. Andrea has claimed that even when things were going well for Chad, the checks never seemed to make it to the mailbox on time, anyway.
Adding to Chad’s troubles is the warrant out for his arrest stemming from his domestic violence case against estranged wife Evelyn Lozada. Chad allegedly failed to check in with his parole officer, meaning he could face jail time.
It’s certainly not a perfect solution to his money troubles, but hey, at least in jail, your meals are free.
