So by now you’re all well aware of the mega Atlanta rapper Clifford “Tip” Harris Jr., aka the King, T.I. These days, he’s probably more known for the reality TV work that he’s doing with his wife, former Xscape member and Grammy award winner, Tiny Harris. But before T.I. made it to our TV screens, he was (and well, still is) a pretty interesting man.

Here are five things you should know about the Southern gent.

1. T.I. is a pretty good actor.

And no, we don’t mean that he’s acting on his reality TV show, T.I. & Tiny. In case you didn’t know, T.I. has been in quite a few movies. He starred in his first feature film, ATL, back in 2006 and then went on to work side-by-side with movie legend, Denzel Washington in the 2007 film American Gangster. Since then, T.I. has played in a couple television series, including Boss where he had a recurring role! We know, he’s so talented.

2. T.I.’s mostly attracted to Tiny’s… attitude.

Aside from Tiny’s cute stature, and desire to “switch things up” for her lovable hubby, T.I. admits that there is one thing that he’s most attracted to when it comes to his wife.

“Tiny’s positive attitude is one of the things I’m most attracted to,” he revealed to VH1’s The Scoop.

3. T.I. has been in trouble with the law… several times.

Much like other well-known rappers of our day, T.I.’s earlier years were filled with illegal activity. Since the age of 14, Tip’s been in and out of jail, but the most famous arrest he’s had was his weapons charge back in 2007. On October 13, 2007, four hours before the BET Awards Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta, T.I. was arrested in the parking lot of a downtown shopping center after allegedly trying to purchase guns from a “cooperating witness” with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He was charged with two felonies - possession of three unregistered machine guns, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

While we still have no clue what the heavy artillery was for, T.I. was required to post a $3 million bond, $2 million in cash and $1 million in equity on property he owned. He was ordered to not leave his home, which is when he started working on his sixth (and our favorite) album, Paper Trail. He was officially sentenced to a year of house arrest in 2008 before being sentenced to a year and one day in prison in 2009 in addition to $250,000 in fines.

But luckily for us, on March 26, 2010, Tip completed his prison sentence and started working on his seventh studio album, King Uncaged.

4. T.I. saved a man from suicide.

Despite have countless run-ins with the police for bad, bad behavior, T.I. is still a good guy at heart. And to prove that he’s every bit as sweet as he is filled with swagger, the Atlanta rapper saved a man from committing suicide! On October 13, 2010, 24-year-old suicidal Atlanta native Joshua Starks attempted to jump from a 22-story building. When Tip heard the news on the radio, he drove to the scene and asked police if he could talk to Joshua. After succeeding in calming the victim down, T.I. told the public that he “couldn’t take any credit” for it because God put him “in a position to help.”

5. T.I. has a lot of kids!

As you’ve seen on the show, our boy T.I. has a lot of kids. The rapper even joked that he “collected them!” Aside from sons Clifford “King” Joseph Harris III (born 2004) and Major Philant Harris (born 2008), with wife Tiny, T.I. has three more children of his own from two previous relationships — son Messiah Ya’Majesty Harris (born 2000) and Domani Uriah Harris (born 2001) with former girlfriend Lashon Dixon, and daughter Deyjah Imani Harris (born 2001) with singer Ms. Niko.

T.I. also coparents Tiny’s eldest child, Zonnique Pullins (born 1996), from Tiny’s previous relationship with Zonnie Pullins.

T.I. and  Tiny were on their way to adding another child to their already large plan, but unfortunately the couple’s first daughter together, Llayah Amour was stillborn on March 22, 2007 due to a complicated pregnancy in her second trimester.
