Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks has a new book out about a topic she knows best: being a lady. It’s called Secrets of a Southern Belle and it offers advice on everything from balancing your checkbook to snagging the perfect man.

What inspired her to pen the tome? “I love etiquette,” Phaedra exclusively tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “But these days, everyone’s sort of celebrating the crazy. People have strayed so much from being ladylike. So I decided I wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem. I wanted to put a modern spin on Emily Post and talk about it from my vantage point as a Southern lady.”

But Phaedra’s quick to note you don’t have to be from the South to be a Southern belle. “Being a Southern belle,” she explains, “has nothing to do with geography. You can be from anywhere. It’s about being confident, being poised, being prepared, and expecting good things to come to you.”

Still, we couldn’t help but ask her opinion on one particular gal who does hail from the South — although ladylike isn’t the term we’d use to describe her these days. Of course we’re talking rising pop diva Miley Cyrus.

“I think Miley’s at an interesting place in her life,” Phaedra notes. “She was a child star who’s trying very hard to become accepted as an adult right now. We’ve all had growing pains, just not in the public eye with the whole world watching. At the end of the day, a Southern belle is not perfect. She’s a work in progress, a masterpiece evolving. Miley Cyrus is no different.”

One tip Phaedra would give the “We Can’t Stop” singer: pick up a copy of her Donkey Booty workout DVD, ASAP.

“I would like her to get my tape so she can get the donkey booty she needs if she wants to continue doing what she’s doing,” says Phaedra. “She’s a little thin and her back is a little narrow. She needs a few biscuits and a donkey booty workout tape so she can get some roundness and fullness when she’s doing her twerking.”

“Miley could be a Southern belle,” Phaedra concludes. “She has the accoutrements to be one. She just needs to marinate on them. And take the panties out of her crack and the joint out of her mouth.”

What do you think? Should Miley take Phaedra’s advice or should she continue to do whatever she wants? Hit the comments and let us know!
