While the ratings for Bravo’s reality hit Real Housewives of Atlanta continue to dominate, there are still some viewers who have been turned off by the escalating drama this season. Among those detractors is fellow Bravolebrity and Flipping Out star Jeff Lewis.
Jeff stopped by the Wendy Williams Show on Thursday, March 6, where Wendy was sure to bring up their mutual fascination (aka obsession) with the Hotlanta women. But while Jeff says he’s “very excited” for NeNe Leakes’s casting on Dancing With the Stars, he admits that he has some reservations about her trajectory on RHoA this sixth season.
“I feel like she’s kind of regressed, taken a step backwards,” Jeff confesses, adding, “I feel like she’s getting a little dirty. Last season, I felt like she really stayed away from the drama, and now she’s stirring it up.”
There’s no disputing that Ms. Linnethia has found herself at the center of more than a few dramatic situations this season, including: her failed Pillow Talk party (and the ensuing brawl), her shade-throwing speech at the Saving Our Daughters gala, and, most recently, her face-off with Marlo Hampton at the Bailey Bowl.
The Interior Therapy star does concede, though, that NeNe can’t take all of the blame for the heightened violence that’s gone down on RHoA between the Housewives and Househusbands.
“When we were watching the big fight where they were all beating the hell out of each other … I felt dirty,” Jeff reveals, referring specifically to the Apollo Nida-Brandon DeShazer PJ party smackdown. “I felt like this has gone too far. I don’t mind flipping tables, I don’t mind screaming at each other, but when they start breaking ribs, that’s where I was like… ew… this is a line.”
And while Jeff is in full support of NeNe’s stint on DWTS, he’s less impressed with the rumors that Kenya Moore may star on Celebrity Apprentice, saying, “I thought that was kind of odd — like a weird miscast. Will she last the entire thing?”
Wendy disagrees wholeheartedly. “She’s smarter than you think. Don’t be fooled by the beauty.”
Do you agree with Jeff that this season has gone too far, or is it just good TV? And would you watch Kenya on Celebrity Apprentice? Sound off in the comments below.
