By now, you may have heard OG Hotlanta gal NeNe Leakes might not return for Real Housewives of Atlanta’s seventh season — at least not as an official full-time Housewife. The reality star herself admitted last week that she’s in negotiations with Bravo to iron all of that out. Now, her co-star Porsha Williams is weighing in on why NeNe is opting out of the gig.

Porsha herself has yet to get the official invite back — by all accounts, no one has — but she told the Rickey Smiley Morning Show this week that she would like to return… with one stipulation: “I just hope it doesn’t go as dark. I think that people need to act like adults. We don’t always have to tear each other down. At some point, you gotta just stop being a hater.”

It’s that darkness that Porsha said is behind NeNe’s hesitation about being an official star when RHoA comes back in the fall.

“I think she has a problem with where the whole show is going,” Porsha revealed, when asked about the NeNe rumors. “Last season was really dark, and she says that she feels like it’s changed.”

We know what you’re thinking: There was always lots of sniping and cattiness even back between NeNe and Sheree Whitfield in the first few seasons. Porsha agreed on that point, but she also pointed out the “feel good moments” that used to be more prevalent.

Porsha denied hearing anything about Andy Cohen being mad at NeNe for her behavior at the reunion, which, according to rumors, spurred him to fire the Dancing With the Stars contestant. Though she doesn’t deny that Mrs. Leakes may be outtie 5000...

“I know that she sent out a tweet the other day, and it was her basically saying that if you don’t like a job, or if it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it anymore,” Porsha admitted. “So I feel like, if anything, it’s probably a mutual decision.”

And what about those saying that NeNe has turned into a diva?

“Well, hell yes she’s a diva!” Porsha exclaimed. “I think she deserves it, she’s been on the show since the very beginning ... So I think she will definitely be missed.”

But the loss of NeNe doesn’t mean the end of the show’s killer ratings, Porsha emphasized: “Will the show go on? I think it will because it’s an ensemble cast. I have people who like me, and Kandi, and Phaedra, etcetera.”

Do you think the show would survive without NeNe? Tell us in the comments below.
