There’s a reason that Kandi Burruss’s mother Mama Joyce was trending on Twitter every week during Real Housewives of Atlanta’s sixth season: The outspoken matriarch knows how to shake things up. Whether she was slamming Kandi’s fiancé Todd Tucker or duking it out with her daughter’s bestie, Carmon Cambrice, Joyce definitely ruffled her share of feathers.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Kandi’s momma recently, and we asked how she was planning to take advantage of all that audience interest. The answer? Sounds like we’re going to be getting a lot more of Mama Joyce in the future! Read on for exclusive details on her forthcoming tell-all book, and the possibility of her own spin-off show.

Wetpaint Entertainment: You announced you were writing a memoir not too long ago. How’s that coming along? Can you tell us more about it?

Mama Joyce: It’s coming along. It’s all about me from my life being a single parent. I don’t know if anybody will be interested, but I think my life is interesting.

Will it include your life starting from when Kandi was little through to the show?

Yes, I think so.

Have you spoken with Kandi about the book at all?

No. It’s kind of a work in progress. From this point on, my life now is about me. I’ve raised a successful daughter and I have a very independent granddaughter. It’s about making me happy and doing what I want to do. I’ll be 65 this year, so now it’s time. I’ve always lived my life trying to do for others — it’s always my brothers and sisters and everybody. I’ve been the go-to person, even though I was the youngest. Now it’s about me.

Is there any project in particular you’re hoping to pursue while focusing on yourself?

I’m open to what becomes open.

There were rumors that you may be starring on a new reality series with other Atlanta reality moms, produced by Tiny Harris. Can you tell us anything about that?

I’ve been approached but I haven’t signed anything. Like I said, I’m open and seeing what’s the best. I have a good management team now and I have a website that they’ve set up. I’m just starting out.

We’re sure you’ll get plenty of followers — people love to talk about you online. Do you read what they write?

They do talk about me [laughs]. I read some of the stuff. You can’t please everybody, but you just have to be yourself and stay true to yourself. And if they can’t say anything else about me, they have to say I am honest.

Catch Mama Joyce on Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
