Apollo Nida may have mastered a number of roles in his life — Phaedra Parks’s arm candy, federal court frequenter, Kenya Moore texter — but it seems he’s been less successful when it comes to his on-screen parts.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed to Straight From the A that not long ago, he tried his hand at scripted TV and even auditioned for BET’s Being Mary Jane, starring Gabrielle Union!

Apollo says of his small screen dreams, “I had a role in that that I auditioned for… I didn’t make it, but I auditioned.”

While he didn’t get cast on the show, Apollo says that he’s always had big dreams for himself, even planning on an early retirement since he was a teenager.

“I was set to retire, I thought, at 22 … that was my ambition,” says Apollo. “I’ve always been ambitious. I’m always up early. I don’t lay in the bed. I don’t care if I have nothing to do — you’re never going to find me sleeping.”

It looks like Apollo’s criminal career may have eclipsed his acting ambitions, but we’re sure there’s still plenty of time for him to prove himself as a thespian — whether to the prison population or the world at large.
