Kim’s issues with her parents have been a plot point on both Real Housewives of Atlanta and Don’t Be Tardy, and during a family camping trip, Kroy admits that his relationship with his parents is just as strained.
Kim reveals that Kroy’s parents disapproved of their union because Kim had two children from previous relationships, and that their judgment caused Kroy to cut off contact with them.
“We all make mistakes, we all go through problems, but at some point, you’ve got to help with some more love,” says Kroy. “You’ve got to put some more work back into that f—king relationship on both sides — but if you never do that, it’s over.”
While Kroy admits to being frustrated with the fact that his children are growing up without grandparents, he admits that Kim has “done enough to try to fix that problem.”
Despite the painful rift in the family, Kim says that she’s not letting Kroy’s parents’ judgment get the best of her.
“It weighed me down for a long time and took my happiness and my joy away from my own family and focusing on my own family,” says Kim. ‘I don’t know what the future holds, but for now, I have six little munchkins that I’m going to continue to protect.”
