When Sheree Whitfield and her NFL player husband, Bob Whitfield got divorced in 2007, the end of their marriage was anything but amicable.
While Sheree says the couple now get along pretty well, she has repeatedly claimed that she’s never received any child support from her ex, even though their divorce settlement states that he is obligated to pay her monthly.
According to an article printed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, in their divorce settlement Sheree received a lump sum of $775,000, as well as an annual $113,422 in her ex's retirement funds and $2,142.87 in monthly child support. No spousal support was awarded.
While that may seem like plenty of money to most people, Sheree and her lawyers appealed the settlement because they felt she deserved more financial support given her lack of education (Sheree only has a high school diploma) and inability to earn income comparable to Bob’s six-year, $30 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Despite the settlement, Sheree still maintains she has never gotten any child support from her ex. However, a judge is now saying he must pay Sheree $75,000 by November, or else he will face consequences in court.
After he forks over the $75k, Bob will also be forced to pay his ex $1,000/month for the next year, and after that he will pay $2,142/month.
