Last week, Real Housewives of New York’s Jill Zarin told The Hollywood Reporter that she is responsible for the success of fellow costars Ramona Singer and Bethenny Frankel. Although Ramona spoke to Wetpaint Entertainment, calling her former costar “delusional”, we later spoke to exec producer Andy Cohen, who told us he can’t help but stand by Jill’s claims.

“Jill helped us cast Bethenny and Ramona,” he told us at the NBC TCA All Star Party. “She absolutely did.”

What Cohen’s not on board with is Jill’s claim that she’s entitled to a commission as a result.

“I don’t get a commission for it,” said Cohen. “She’s done very well from the show, so that’s her commission. But she did [help cast them]. She absolutely can take credit for finding Bethenny and Ramona.”

Though Cohen credits all the ladies for the show’s enormous success, he also stands by the network’s choice to shake up the casting for the upcoming season.

Andy reveals, “They had their highest-rated season last season, so it’s a credit to Jill, Alex, Kelly, everybody, that entire group.”

However, he continues, “There were fans that wanted a significant change in the show. It was clear to us while we were shooting and while it was airing that we felt like we need to do something. Let’s switch it up. Let’s put some new energy into this show. And I just think, whether the ratings are down this season or up, for the long-term health of the New York Housewives, we did the right thing.”
