Sports stars have become as common a sight on the reality television as they are on the field or the court, but with the NBA lockout looming it’s going to be a lot more work and far less play for Matt Barnes this fall.

The Basketball Wives L.A. cast member will be appearing on the spin off show by fiancée Gloria Govan’s side, and told Wetpaint Entertainment that he is excited to be keeping busy while the 2011 NBA season is in jeopardy.

“I’m a part of it, I’m on it a lot this year, I definitely have to support my fiancée in what she does,” the Los Angeles Lakers player told us in an exclusive interview.

“It’s a very racy kind of show,” he laughed.

“I’m the dad in the summer time and usually during the season she (Gloria) has to do all the work,” he explained, but as the season won’t be kicking off in October as usual, he’s happy to keep his apron on and to maintain domestic bliss.

“I’m Mr. Mom during the summer — watching the children, cooking dinners and cleaning — but I love it.”

As for his teammate, Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest, who was the first contestant to be voted from Dancing With the Stars, Barnes was shocked the Lakers star was eliminated so quickly.

“I actually missed watching Ron Artest on DWTS. I’m disappointed that he got cut, but I know I can count on him on the court and that’s what matters, I don’t know what he’s like at dancing,” Matt told Wetpaint Entertainment.

“Ron has a very loyal fan base and he’s a great guy, I thought popularity would at least push him through the first round," he said.

“I’ve not talked to him, I texted him and said congratulations for being on the show and a good job. We’ll catch up soon."

However, Barnes said Artest’s name change to Metta wasn’t a shock to him.

“Ron is a very unique person, whatever he does to make himself happy is good with me. Nothing he does surprises me!," Matt explained.

"Everything Ron does is very calculated and he knows what he’s doing and he has a good reason behind it."

Will Barnes follow suit and change his name to something wacky? “NEVER! I love my name.”
