Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada’s fairytale marriage to football player Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson ended after just 41 days following an alleged altercation in which Chad reportedly abused his wife.

In the weeks following the incident, Evelyn stayed relatively quiet but made it clear that she had every intention of leaving her hubby. Now that some time has passed, Evelyn is really opening up about her ordeal, telling Radar Online that she is beginning to heal. “I am absolutely back on the road to recovery now, I had a month-and-a-half where I was just dark, I wasn’t tweeting, I went away,” she revealed.

Ev credits her 19-year-old daughter for helping her through the difficult time, noting, “My daughter was my rock through the whole thing,"

Evelyn knew that even though the incident was sad and unexpected, she also had the opportunity to teach her daughter how to handle such an unfortunate situation. "She is 19 so it was important to be strong for her and make sure she knew that this happened, and I want to be an example for her and let her know that domestic abuse is never something you should tolerate — don’t care who he is, how much money he has or how fine he is — I feel like I need to be an example for her and my 13-year-old stepdaughter, who was there and I still love.”

We’re glad that Evelyn took this opportunity to teach her daughter about unhealthy relationships, and are even happier knowing that the reality star is recovering nicely.
