We were pretty surprised when adorable Olympian Gabby Douglas couldn’t even celebrate her gold medal win in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition for more than 10 minutes before being criticized for something, but alas, it happened.
Apparently, there was a sizable group of people who were none too pleased with Gabby’s chosen hairstyle of the Olympic games — a simple ponytail with extra pins to hold stray hairs in place — and while Gabby was quick to dismiss her haters, it looks like she’s taken their advice to heart.
According to The Daily Beast, Gabby has enlisted the help of celeb hairstylist Ted Gibson — who has worked with the coifs of Angelina Jolie and Gabrielle Union and appeared on Oprah — to revamp her hair.
Ted, for one, reveals that he was shocked over the criticism Gabby received. “I couldn’t believe it and still can’t. You have this young girl doing amazing things, and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.”
Gibson didn’t dish on exactly what he has planned for Gabby’s new ‘do, but he offered, “It’s tricky because Gabby is 16 and I don’t want to do anything to make her look 25 years old.Together with her vision, I hope we can create something that’s easy and looks great no matter what she’s doing or where she is. I hope to create something that makes her feel good about herself as well.”
