On last week's episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we watched girls of all ages compete in Cynthia Bailey's first attempt at a pageant, Miss Renaissance. The event got us thinking: How old was Kenya Moore when she started competing on the path that would lead her to becoming Miss U.S.A.?
While Kenya doesn't fall into the toddlers and tiaras category, she was still pretty young: 14 years old. In her most recent blog post on Bravo's website, she writes about her experience competing in the Little Miss Black Star pageant, where she danced to Marvin Gaye's “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” for her talent portion, and ended up taking the first runner-up prize.
"At Cynthia’s pageant, I could see the hope and faith in the young girls’ eyes, and it warmed my heart to know that I too have been in that position," she reminisced.
