Fired Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the show that made her famous, why she wasn’t ashamed of being fired, and why she thinks it was stupid of Bravo to let her go.

Nearly five months after being fired from the Real Housewives of New York (along with Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop), Jill is ready to tell her side of the story, and she has plenty to say.

“I like to say I was fired because I'm not embarrassed about it,” she says. “I didn't do anything wrong, so I really don't know why they fired us and kept the other girls.”

After officially getting the news that she wouldn’t be back for another season of RHoNY, Jill got a call from a familiar force at Bravo.

“Andy Cohen called shortly after, which I'm sure was a difficult thing to do. He gave me the respect I deserved considering I committed four years of my life to the show,” she explains.

“He said they wanted the series to go in a different direction and that last season ended very dark — which I find ironic because they could have controlled that. I filmed many happy scenes that the network canned.”

Sounds like Jill still has an axe to grind with the powers that be at Bravo.

While Jill firmly denies that a salary dispute pushed her to leave the show, she does have complaints about how much money Bravo paid her and her co-stars for the majority of their time on the show.

She reveals, “They're getting a lot of money now, so that's another thing I'm disappointed about. I didn't get to make the money I feel I deserved...The first, second and third season salary pretty much added up to the fourth season. I worked really hard.”

Jill also drops some bombs about the cast of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, saying that while Bravo was smart to film Season 4 before Season 3 aired, the network has irreparably damaged that cast.

“Bravo had no delusions that they set up Teresa [Giudice] by hiring her sister-in-law and cousin without letting her know. It's understandable Teresa would be upset,” Jill says.

“The show couldn't film now: Teresa and Caroline [Manzo] won't even be in the same room, and Jacqueline [Laurita] quit. As a cast, they're kaput.”
