While the ladies of Atlanta are in the midst of shooting the Season 5 reunion right now, there is some serious drama going down over at a Georgia courthouse! On March 12, Kandi Burruss filed a lawsuit against her former RHoA co-star (and friend) Kim Zolciak all because of a little song called “Tardy For the Party.”
According to the suit, Kandi and the tune’s co-writer, Rodney Richards, are seeking "damages for copyright infringement due to Defendants' unauthorized and unlawful licensing, distribution and sale of Plaintiffs' creative works, namely a sound recording embodying a performance of a musical composition entitled 'Tardy for the Party.’”
And whenever there’s a lawsuit, a lawyer isn’t too far behind. As some RHoA fans may have found out by now, our girl Kandi has retained none other than high-powered Atlanta attorney Phaedra Parks to represent her in her court battle against Kim.
Phaedra has represented celebs like Bobby Brown in the past, so we’re confident she’ll put up a good fight for her co-star and BFF, Kandi. Still, if this lawsuit teaches us anything, it’s that friends should not do business together.
