Last night was not an easy one for The Real Housewives of Miami star Adriana De Moura. Not only did she have to relive the drama of filming season two’s out-of-control out lingerie party — where she and co-star Joanna Krupa got into a physical altercation — but her call into Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live show ended in a yelling match between herself and Krupa, who was an in-person guest.
Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Adriana this morning, who, thankfully, had some positive news to share. Starting Nov. 1, she’s joining WinesByWives.com. Each month, she’ll curate two wines a month with a portion of profits going to the Brazil Foundation. We chatted with her about the cause … and the feud with Krupa!
Tell us about the Brazil Foundation. Why is it close to your heart?
Well, I’m Brazilian and even though Brazil’s economy is the sixth largest in the world, there are a lot of social issues when it comes to education and poverty — especially the education of women because they’re living in such a macho culture. So I chose the Brazil Foundation because I want to give back to my country.
Let’s talk about the lingerie party. Your blurred out nipple is quite the talk of the Internet today!
Oh, god. Unfortunately that’s what happens when you’re dealing with lingerie. I was so worried about not showing my butt that I kept pulling my outfit down, but I guess that didn’t help on top. I was struggling with it all night. Oh well, I’ve just got to laugh about it.
You called into Watch What Happens Live last night, but unfortunately we didn’t hear much of what you were saying. What did you want to get across?
Well that, to me, was the perfect example of Joanna’s lack of education and class. She doesn’t let anyone else speak because she can’t bear to have the attention off her for one minute. She wants to be the star of the show and bully her way through it.
But what I was trying to get across last night is that, at the lingerie party, she was on a mission to fight from the second she walked in. She started with Joe Francis, then Marysol, then her own sister. She was looking to get into it with people. When I was talking to Karent, there was no reason for her to get involved. She should have butt out.
Is that why you finally lashed out physically?
I have never gotten physically with anyone in my life. But I had nothing left, there was nothing else I could do. She had been following me all night, making nasty comments, calling me names, running after me saying things like, “Who are you? Who are you?” Who am I? I’m a woman and a mother and I deserve respect.
RHoM seems to really have found its footing and its audience this season. What do you think producers are doing differently that’s working?
Well I think they found a way to add Miami as a character. There’s more natural beauty. And of course, they’ve amped up the drama. The nature of this business and this franchise is drama. Do I engage in fights in my normal life? No. I have a son I take care of and a business I run. But this is my job. And it can be very taxing, emotionally and physically.
What’s the upside of putting yourself through it?
The upside is you get to brand yourself and you get the financial rewards. I am a single mother and it costs money to raise my child. I want to give him the best education possible and this helps pay for it.
