Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore (full name: Kenya Summer Moore) joined RHoA as a new cast member in Season 5, and although she’s relatively new to the reality TV game, Kenya has been well-known for years. Kenya first gained recognition when she won Miss U.S.A. in 1993, and went on to compete in Miss Universe after that.
Before making it big as a beauty queen-turned-reality star, Kenya was raised by her aunt and grandmother in Detroit because her mother was unable to care for her, and she credits pageants for saving her life.
When she was done twirling around the pageant circuit, she turned to acting, landing roles in movies like Waiting to Exhale, Trois, and Deliver Us From Eva. She also started her own production company, Moore Vision Media, where she produces films and television projects, which she often also stars in.
Kenya is clearly a driven career woman, and although she’s not married (nor has she ever had a husband), she has been propsed to several times. Kenya spent much of Season 5 of RHoA trying to find a husband, and even though she was hoping her now-ex-boyfriend Walter Jackson would propose, the couple called it quits shortly after the cast trip to Anguilla, and Walter later revealed that their entire relationship was staged.
When the cameras aren’t rolling, Kenya works as an actress and producer, and helps run the Kenya Moore Foundation, a charity which awards scholarships to underprivileged girls from her high school alma mater, Cass Technical High School. Of course, we can’t forget that she is so “Gone With the Wind Fabulous” — a catchphrase she coined on RHoA — that she wrote an iTunes chart-topping song about it, performed it on Watch What Happens Live in January, and her music video debuts on March 10, 2013!
