You’d think all of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion drama surrounding the Kenya Moore-Porsha Williams brawl would only mean good things for Bravo and executive producer Andy Cohen, but the Watch What Happens Live host actually came under a lot of fire for his part in the mess — namely, that he allowed Kenya to use her props to “provoke” Porsha and that he only sent Porsha home afterwards. But last night, Andy used his late night show to clear the air and defend his decisions.
“Looking back on it, I should have taken the bullhorn away,” Andy admitted, before adding that he originally thought it was a harmless prank. “Last year, Kenya brought a fan to comedic effect, and it seemed at first, again, that this was something she was using to comedic effect. It seemed like a stupid prop to me.”
Hindsight is 20/20, and now Andy sees the error of his ways. “Clearly, being on the receiving end of the prop was not stupid or funny,” he stated. “I’m sorry I didn’t see it coming, and I should’ve taken it back. And on that note, there will be no more props.”
“After the incident, she told me and the other producers that she felt that she was not ready for the emotional stress of the day,” Andy explained. “We listened to what she said, and we didn’t want to put her back into a situation in which she did not feel prepared emotionally and in which she could potentially do something or say something that she didn’t feel good about or that anybody else didn’t feel good about.”
That sounds fair. The only issue fans may still have is that the Bravo producers kept Kenya around. Sure, she didn’t volunteer to leave like Porsha — but by letting her stay, it appeared that they were taking a clear side on the matter, even if they weren’t. Still, good to know Porsha wasn’t awkwardly ousted, the way we assumed she was.
