Looks like Bravo is striking out left and right in casting more housewives for Beverly Hills. Actress Lisa Rinna and model Penny Lancaster chose to steer clear of the franchise — and Penny told Katie Couric why she showed producers the door, so to speak.

Penny and her husband, singer Rod Stewart, appeared on Katie, and the host asked Penny why she said no.

"'Cause I'm not a Beverly Hills wife," Penny explained to applause and cheers from the audience.

"I'm from England, as you all probably know, and I consider myself a very down-to-earth girl next door, so I just wouldn't fit into that."

Fair point, Penny. Fair point. You can give the Housewives many labels, but "down-to-earth" isn't exactly the first descriptor our minds leap to.

In other news, Penny Lancaster is like an Amazon, towering over Katie — and Rod. OK, we might be feeling a little seeing her tower over the other wives.
