Angelina Jolie shocked fans everywhere with her candid admission about undergoing a double mastectomy in a New York Times op-ed. A carrier of the BRCA1 gene, which puts women at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer, the Oscar-winning actress opted for the drastic surgery as a preventative measure.
Needless to say, her revelation has inspired countless women to take a serious look at their own health, including Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.
Last week, Kyle took to Twitter and wrote, “I lost my Mom to Breast cancer & am embarrassed to admit that I've been too scared to get tested. I feel differently today #AngelinaJolie.”
Kyle said she’s no stranger to getting mammograms, but admitted the idea of genetic testing for cancer scared her.
One concerned fan tweeted at Kyle Richards and said, “@KyleRichards18 My mom and I both have BC now - my sis and I both tested pos for brca. It's scary but so important to know for your kids.”
But now, it looks as if Kyle overcome her fear! On May 21 she replied to the same fan and wrote, “@doodlemom011010 being tested next week.”
We’re glad Kyle is taking careful steps to ensure her health in the future.
