LeAnn Rimes is sharing a controversial hand gesture in a new photo. But don't worry  it's not directed at Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville. At least, we don't think it is.

LeAnn and Real Housewives' Lisa Vanderpump are joining a slew of celebrities who are teaming up with Friend Movement to help put a stop to bullying.

The New F Word Campaign launched on June 4 and features various celebs, including LeAnn and Lisa, giving the middle finger.

Also involved in the admirable cause are such famous (and adorable) faces as Glee's Darren Criss, American Idol alum Adam Lambert, and Pretty Little Liars Season 4 guest star Rumer Willis.

So how did LeAnn get involved?

"LeAnn's a great friend of mine, and I've seen over the years how she's been bullied in the press, so I asked her right away to be a part of Friend Movement's anti-bullying campaign," an exec of the campaign explains to E! News.

It turns out that LeAnn was so ill during the photo shoot that she couldn't even keep her middle finger up under her own power.

"She had a hard time keeping her middle finger up, so our photographer Ryan Forbes had to tape her other fingers down with black tape," the exec adds.

"Her photo is definitely one of our most powerful images!" he points out. "I think her photo and the message behind it will resonate with many around the world who have been bullied."

And how did the concept even come about?

"When you're bullied, we want you to think to yourself, 'F U, I'm fabulous the way I am,'" the company's co-creator says. "We know it's a provocative campaign, but it's all about self-empowerment."

The organization is raising money via Kickstarter and through a benefit concert in L.A. on July 1 featuring LeAnn.

It's great that so many stars are getting in the "middle" of such an important issue.
