Andy Cohen has created a pop culture phenomenon with the Real Housewives franchise, which has expanded into a six-city empire and a handful of international spinoffs in countries like Australia and France.
But what makes someone the perfect candidate for a Real Housewives show?
Andy Cohen sat down with Kenny Lopez of local New Orleans station WGNO to talk about his recent memoir, Most Talkative: Stories From the Front Lines of Pop Culture. He admitted women approach him all the time about being on the show and shared some key traits he looks for in a new cast member.
“Being wealthy, having a point of view, being strong,” he said.
Andy told Wetpaint Entertainment in May there are no current plans for any new Real Housewives shows. But seeing the success the series have had, we have a feeling that sentiment isn't’ set in stone.
Just how confident is Andy about the Real Housewives’ lasting impact on television? He recalled a story from his book in which he talks about moving to New York City and meeting famed artist Andy Warhol on the streets his very first day there.
“I’d like to say if Andy Warhol was alive, he’d be painting the Housewives,” Andy said.
