Just as much as any Bravo franchise here in the United States, we’re totally addicted to the the Real Housewives of Vancouver. While all of the castmates bring something special to the table, our favorite of the ladies is Reiko MacKenzie.
A self-proclaimed adrenaline-junkie, this Japanese-Canadian bombshell races Ferraris and practices mixed martial arts. She’s completely fearless in nearly every aspect of her life, and that’s especially true when it comes to love.
Up until October, Reiko was married to venture capitalist Sunny MacKenzie. A month before the show debuted in March 2012, it was revealed that her husband had changed his name from Sun News Lal to cover up the fact that he’d been accused of murder in 1994.
“There’s been some negative press reports, but there really isn’t much to say about the news item from our past," Reiko wrote in a blog for the Vancouver Desi. “I was never, and am not, hiding anything. It really did happen a long time ago. My husband and I have had tremendous support from our friends and the community.”
Though Sunny was acquitted of the killing, the drama surrounding the story took a toll on their relationship. On October 12, 2012, Reiko tweeted: “#separated #newlife #newbeginnings #onwardupward <3.”
Within a month, Reiko was already out in the dating world — but this time, she was dating a woman! The Season 1 Housewife was spotted getting cozy with DJ Kasha Kennedy, even tweeting out a photo of the two sharing a romantic kiss.
Unfortunately, the relationship lasted less than seven months, but Reiko was proud to announce the breakup to the world. “Officially. Single,” she tweeted on July 10. “#nofear #lifekeepsmoving.”
If we know Reiko at all, we’re sure she’ll find yet another love soon!
