The Real Housewives of Orange County has seen many fights and crazy moments in its eight seasons, especially when it comes to OG star Vicki Gunvalson, but nothing compares to a feud between a guy and someone twice his age.

In the Season 8 finale, Vicki’s Winter Wonderland-themed party took an unexpected turn when daughter Briana’s husband, soldier Ryan Culberson, got into a fight with Lydia’s mom, Judy, throwing her out for “disrespecting the house” by putting her feet on the couch.

Lydia’s 64-year-old mother claims that he “flipped out” on her, while Ryan explained she wasn’t listening to him. Since this dramatic situation clearly got out of hand and is a battle of “he said, she said,” Wetpaint Entertainment has gathered all the information we know to try and clear things up:

Ryan didn’t actually live in Vicki’s home at the time. When a fan suggested Ryan and Briana move out of Vicki’s home, she replied, “They had already moved out and was visiting from his base.  There was a lot more to the night that wasn't shown.” Notably, Ryan did exclaim, “Get the f—out” and “I live here” in the actual episode.

Vicki doesn’t let Ryan walk all over her! Vicki was quick to explain that she doesn’t let anyone walk all over her — especially Ryan. “I never let him walk over me, nor anyone! You are grossly mistaken,” she told a hater.

Judy doesn’t hold a grudge against Ryan. In spite of their fight, Judy is fine with Ryan now. “Nothing but #love for @vgunvalson,” Judy tweeted, noting that she’s “taking the high road.” Ultimately, she forgave him so they could heal. “Because we are all one when we forgive others we forgive ourselves, which is the first step in the healing process. I'm trying to forgive.”

Lydia, however, was “traumatized” and finds the situation “disturbing.” Even though she didn’t witness it, Lydia wrote about the “super hard” to watch scene in her blog. “I was so traumatized and in tears because I felt responsible for my mom … I left her alone for two minutes only to find that she was being verbally assaulted and getting kicked out.” Later, she noted how out of line he was, saying, “Watching his face, so full of anger, and the way he is talking about my mom is disturbing.” Eek.

Ryan blames the editing. Since we didn’t see the fight, we can only listen to both sides of the story. Ryan is blaming the editing, recently explaining, “There was so much more … that led up to that incident which they fail to include to make me look like the crazy Marine.” He still “cannot get over how the producers edited it” and thinks if the full video was shown, his actions would be “a lot more justified.” Guess we’ll never know the real truth unless they bring that footage out in the future!

Is Ryan suffering from PTSD? Mark Lerner, forensic psychologist and chairman of The Institute for Traumatic Stress, Inc., talked to Wetpaint about the situation and was quick to note that the marine was probably having a “very real traumatic stress reaction,” but that doesn’t mean he has PTSD. He said that in the clip, “We’re seeing a gentleman who I assume has returned from war, has served, and is now demonstrating what we call a normal reaction to the abnormal events that he’s experienced. He has what we would call a short fuse or low tolerance for frustration.” Mark says this is a common reaction, whether for veterans or people who have experienced traumatic events.

Do you think that Ryan was out of line, or was it all in the editing? Sound off below.
