It’s not easy being the new housewife on the block. But Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer Joyce Giraud is having a tougher time than most. Since Day 1, she’s been tangling with Brandi Glanville, the show’s sharp-tongued fan favorite. In doing so, Joyce has also drawn the ire of Brandi’s equally opinionated best friends, Yolanda Foster and Lisa Vanderpump.

But while most would back off and shy away from confronting such an intimidating trio, Joyce has surprisingly held her own. You may not agree with her, but you gotta respect her for not backing down. In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Joyce opens up about her battle.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Do you feel Brandi judged you without getting to know you first?

Joyce Giraud: Yes, I do feel Brandi judged me without getting to know me only because I didn’t "jump on her wagon.”  I wasn't letting her bash some of the ladies and I think it pissed her off when I called her out.

Do you feel Yolanda and Lisa have done the same?

I do feel that they both made excuses for Brandi's behavior when it was totally uncalled for.  I understand that a girl wants to defend her friends.  I love my friends, too, but if it comes to a point where they are totally out of line, I'm the first one to tell them.

What was your reaction when you tried to confront Brandi over her missing dog and she snapped at you?

My reaction was exactly what you saw.  She was yet again trying to pick a fight and I simply said: "I'm not doing this right now... right now I just want to hug you because I feel for you.”  I was very upset that she lost her doggie, because even if she had been rude and mean to me, that’s something I don't wish upon anyone in this world.  Our animals are part of our families and they are like babies.  Losing one is very painful.

Will we see your relationship with Brandi, Lisa and Yolanda improve — or will things get worse before they get better?

I won’t spoil the rest of the season for you, but I can say it gets a bit explosive! I can also say I'm upset at myself for believing Brandi so many times.  I should have gone with my gut instinct, but a part of me wanted to believe she was being genuine.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
