Vicki Gunvalson and her daughter, Briana, have dealt with a lot this season on Real Housewives of Orange County. First there was that cancer scare, then Briana’s engagement and quickie elopement in Vegas, and now there’s reportedly a baby on the way. But nothing has been quite as awkward as Vicki introducing her own fella, Brooks Ayers, to the newlyweds in this preview for Season 7, Episode 13.
“I just wanted you to meet Brooks,” Vicki says nervously. “I know it’s your night, but I just thought it was time for everyone to get to know each other.” Briana admits that the meeting is “a little bit” uncomfortable, but she knows that she’s caused her own share of trouble for mom by eloping with her marine beau, Ryan.
Brooks tries to break the ice by chiming in: “You know what, I am happy for you that you’re happy. I have prayed for your health for months . . . And I feel like I know you already, I do.” That goes over moderately well until he adds, “And I think it’s pretty interesting that two mid-western women came to California to find two southern men. It’s interesting to me.”
The conversation then spirals into some gibe about Mississippi being “the armpit of America,” which Vicki deflects by saying that at the end of the day they’re all just people looking for love. Bri isn’t tolerating the comparisons, though, and insists their situations are “a lot different.”
Vicki just spent upwards of $50,000 on her daughter's wedding — even though she scampered off and got eloped without telling anyone — so maybe Brooks and his southern charm won Bri over eventually.
