Good news for Gretchen Rossi! Less than a week after Gretchen was awarded over $500K in a longtime legal battle with a former acquaintance, Jay Photoglou, the Real Housewives of Orange County star has been granted a 3-year restraining order against the man.
The legal drama between the two dates back to 2010, when Gretchen sued Jay for defamation, assault, battery, and other alleged offenses. A judge threw out the defamation charge in late 2010 but moved forward with the other charges. Last week, Gretchen was awarded $500K in damages and $23,250 in punitive damages.
According to TMZ, yesterday Gretchen returned to court to ask for a permanent restraining order against Jay. She claims he has been telling lies about her to the press, including insinuating that she slept with him while engaged to her late fiance Jeff Beitzel, who passed away in September 2008.
"I'm pleased the judge recognized the danger Photoglou posed,” Gretchen told TMZ.
Under the 3-year restraining order, Jay must not come within 100 feet from Gretchen and must not attempt to contact her by phone.
