Gretchen Rossi Granted Restraining Order Against Jay Photoglou
Score two for Gretchen Rossi! Less than a week after Gretchen was awarded over $500K in a longtime legal battle with a former acquaintance, Jay Photoglou, the Real Housewives of Orange County star has been granted a 3-year restraining order against the man.
The legal drama between the two dates back to 2010, when Gretchen sued Jay for defamation, assault, battery, and other alleged offenses. A judge threw out the defamation charge in late 2010 but moved forward with the other charges. Last week, Gretchen was awarded $500K in damages and $23,250 in punitive damages.
According to TMZ, yesterday Gretchen returned to court to ask for a permanent restraining order against Jay, who she says bad-mouthed her in the media and claimed he slept with her while she was still with her fiance Jeff Beitzel, who passed away in September 2008.
"I'm pleased the judge recognized the danger Photoglou posed,” Gretchen told TMZ.
Under the 3-year restraining order, Jay must stay 100 feet away from Gretchen at all times and must not attempt to contact her by phone.
