Have you been wondering how Slade Smiley managed to wind up on Real Housewives of Orange County? Well, wonder no more!
Vicki Gunvalson tells Glamour that Slade and Jo De La Rosa got on the show through a different process than the show uses now to recruit people.
"[When the show started,] we didn't cast Housewives then," Vicki explains.
She says that the show would round up people to join in a more organic way back then.
"We were all neighbors or friends," she says. "Well, Slade and Jo won it at an auction," Vicki continues. "They wanted to be on TV, and he thought she could be a singer and all that stuff."
As you may recall, Slade was engaged to Jo until 2007.
Luckily, things certainly seem to be going well for Slade of late. His special lady of four years, Gretchen Rossi, proposed to him on April 14.
“She had him flown up there via helicopter for the dramatic proposal,” a source says, adding that Slade was completely taken by surprise.
Gretchen was previously married to Chris Rossi until 2007, and her fiance Jeff Beitzel sadly passed away from cancer in 2008.
Sources say her proposal to Slade should end up on TV at some point, so we'll be able to see every magical moment!
And moments like that can't exactly be auctioned off.
