UPDATE: Kesley Grammer's representative cleared the air over the car seat controversy surrounding the star, saying to E! News: "I am not an attorney, so I cannot commit on any legal aspect. I just know that the original footage that aired strongly implied that they left the airport without a car seat, which was not the case," says Grammer's rep, Stan Rosenfield.
"In an attempt to avoid the paparazzi, they exited through the upper level," Rosenfield added. "Kelsey went back in and got the car seat and met them at the car. Did the car drive a few yards without the car seat? Yes. At no time does the video show them leaving the airport with the baby not in the car seat."
It’s been a bumpy month for Camille Grammer’s ex-husband Kelsey Grammer.
After sparking controversy for taking his infant daughter to a Playboy Mansion party in October, the actor and his wife, Kayte, are now taking heat for not putting her in a car seat, according to TMZ.
TMZ has video footage of the couple entering a chauffeured SUV at LAX yesterday, with Kayte holding 4-month-old Faith. Kayte gets into the back of the vehicle and instead of putting Faith in a car seat, she seatbelts herself in and holds the baby on her lap. We then see the car pulling away from curb. If the baby was indeed not strapped into in a carseat, as TMZ claims, it’s a violation of California law.
Kelsey’s rep tells TMZ that there was a car seat inside the vehicle, although it isn’t visible in the video.
Kelsey has been in the news a lot lately, but not for the best reasons. His series Boss was canceled by Starz last week, and this week Camille tried to file an emergency court order to keep him from moving into the home that they used to share.
