LeAnn Rimes seems to be on the defensive lately when it comes to her role as a stepmom.

The country singer is married to actor Eddie Cibrian. She plays part-time mom to his two sons — Mason, 9, and Jake, 5 — with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville. She took to Twitter on April 6 to stick up for stepmoms, writing, “Supporting other step moms is not putting down bio moms. Some people seriously need to grow up.”

In a recent interview with British mag Fabulous, LeAnn said the boys are very comfortable with having her in a motherly role.

“Sometimes they’ll blurt out: ‘Mom!’, but I just go with whatever they call me,” LeAnn revealed. “As long as it’s nice and respectful, I couldn’t care less.”

She also admitted it hasn’t been all that easy dealing with Brandi, but she’s not about to stop being a presence in the boys’ lives.

“It’s been really difficult,” said LeAnn. “You have to stand up for yourself and be your own person, but at the same time you have to protect these children and their hearts. And that’s a very tough balance.”

We can’t imagine Brandi Glanville is too happy to hear that! She’s complained about LeAnn’s boundary issues in the past and told Buzzfeed in a March interview that she hopes the singer will have her own kids one day and be able to better understand the issue.

Do you think LeAnn is disrespecting Brandi’s position as a mom?
