For a few weeks, soap star Lisa Rinna seemed like a frontrunner for the empty Real Housewives of Beverly Hills slot. But on May 2, she definitively shot down the rumors on Twitter.

E! News caught up with Lisa and her husband, fellow soap actor Harry Hamlin, at the Race to Erase MS Gala in Los Angeles on Friday, May 3, and chatted with them about the speculation.

When the reporter asked Harry about his thoughts on the prospect of his wife joining the reality show's cast, Harry stared her down icily for a good five seconds before gesticulating that his lips were sealed.

And then she heard from Lisa herself.

"Basically, that was never gonna happen," Lisa explains. "Never, ever gonna happen — that's what I can tell you.

"But it was an interesting thing to watch happen without my knowledge. You know, this whole press thing is a fascinating thing. [The rumor] just grew into its own life. It really did, truly."
