Lisa Vanderpump was content sitting on the sidelines during Season 1 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but Season 2 has thrown this classy Brit right in the middle of the drama!
Lisa recently spoke with Parade and shared some insights on living life in the (sometimes negative) spotlight. And after Monday night’s explosive episode where Camille Grammer points the spotlight on Taylor Armstrong’s allegedly abusive marriage to late husband Russell, Lisa insinuated she thinks Cam-Gram did the right thing.
“Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth. I’ve had issues with Taylor, like ‘Sorry, Taylor, you’re too thin. You’re not eating.’ It doesn’t matter what way you cut it, does she like it? No, but that’s what we are encouraged to do, to be honest. We’re not going to sit there and say nothing on the show, we’re encouraged to speak our mind and sometimes people don’t like it.”
As for Lisa, she says she’s much more thick-skinned. “You’re not going to please everybody,” Lisa says. “I care what I think and what my children and my husband thinks. If I’m OK with them, I’m OK with myself.”
Still, she’s not entirely made of nails. Lisa says Season 2 has been “more difficult” for her, especially since it premiered in the wake of Russell Armstrong’s suicide. She’s taken a lot of flak for being rude to Taylor, and says at times she’s felt “under attack” by critics.
But in true Vanderfabulous fashion, Lisa has managed to let most of that roll off her back by just doing that cool British thing she does. “...I think if you stay true to yourself, people will make up their own minds. You just have to keep plowing ahead,” she says.
