Can we just take a moment to worship at the altar of The Vanderpump? Lisa is successful, gorgeous, and funny, and we really sort of want her to be our wisecracking sidekick. Oh, okay. We would be her sidekick.

People wonder two things about the fabulous Ms. Vanderpump: How old is she, and where did she get that amazing name? Luckily, in 2002 Lisa gave an interview to the London Evening Standard that answers both these queries. Back then, the paper described Lisa and husband Ken Todd as living “an A-list lifestyle, yet you may never have heard of them.” How much difference a decade can make!

Ken and Lisa met at a bar in 1982 when she tried to make him pay the entrance fee. She was 21 to his 37, and they tied the knot after only six weeks. Ken, who had made his money in textiles, actually owned the place. After failing to make a name for herself in Hollywood (her Silk Stalkings role doesn’t count?), Lisa headed back to London to open a variety of nightclubs and restaurants. The couple was worth at least £10.5 million after the sale of several bars in 1998. In the mid-2000s, Lisa returned to Beverly Hills as a restaurateur. Now 51, Lisa’s made a name for herself both as the proprietor of Villa Blanca and SUR and as a Real Housewives star. 

Oh, and as for the name Vanderpump? It’s Dutch. “"I'm not sure if the name has been a help or a hindrance, professionally, but I supposed that once you've heard it, you remember it,” Lisa told the newspaper in 2002. There couldn’t be anything less forgettable, darling.
