It was both sad and awkward to see Russell Armstrong back on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in Season 2, Episode 9, “ Otherwise Engaged.” It was his first appearance on the show because Bravo edited several of his earlier scenes after his shocking suicide in August. Things took an even stranger turn when Russell started threatening legal action against Lisa Vanderpump, whom he accused of leaking information (or misinformation?) to Us Weekly about his and Taylor’s marriage.

Back in May, Us reported that the couple had secretly split up, a fact that Taylor and Russell both denied in public and to Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky at dinner during the episode. While it may seem odd to accuse a friend (or someone who’s not really a friend but is there for you when they think you have an eating disorder) of telling tales to gossip magazines, Lisa is friends with the editor. However, isn’t the fact that the story was false (at the time, anyway — Taylor filed for divorce in July) an indication that the source wasn’t all that familiar with the couple?
