It looks like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills producers will not be getting a member of rock royalty on their show.

Penny Lancaster was considered a shoo-in to join the Season 4 cast, filling one of the empty spots left by departing housewives Adrienne Maloof and Camille Grammer, but that ship has apparently sailed.

Penny’s husband, Rod Stewart, told TMZ recently that his wife was asked to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but she turned it down.

“It’s not her thing,” Rod told the paparazzi as he strolled into LAX with his entourage on March 7.

When asked to elaborate on why Penny turned down the gig, Rod simply said, “She doesn’t want to do that sort of thing. Whatever she wants to do, she does. She’s an independent woman.”

Penny may be out, but RHoBH producers are still reportedly in talks with several other lovely ladies, including Faye Resnick, Brend Harvey (Lionel Richie’s ex-wife), and former Extra host Dayna Devon.

Do you think Penny Lancaster is missing out on a primo opportunity, or is she dodging a bullet? Who would you like to see cast on Season 4 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
