Real Housewives of Orange County star Alexis Bellino will be making her soap opera debut this Wednesday, May 9, on General Hospital, guest-starring as a local Port Charles anchorwoman. Today, Alexis spoke up about the thrill of trading in reality TV cams for the studio experience.
Alexis, who already has some anchoring experience under her designer belt with San Diego’s Fox 5, admitted the gig was very different for her at first. “I knew I was acting! It was surreal,” she told MSN. “I got nervous and a little choked up on the first take, but the second time I nailed it.”
Her character in the show will be, she says, delivering “headline news about a local mishap” which will be “shocking for Port Charles, and it’s a pretty big deal. Everyone’s jaws are going to drop.”
The gig was refreshing for her, she says, because “seeing these women and men performing their roles [and then] step away from the cameras, they’re back to being who they really are... It was fun to know what when I walked away from the desk, it was going to be portrayed just as it was filmed.” As opposed to, say, being characterized as “dumb” on Real Housewives, which she says is “the furthest thing from the truth.”
Alexis doesn’t want General Hospital to be her last hurrah in the acting biz, of course. “I was so blessed for this experience and I hope I have another one,” she gushed.
Alexis’s hubby Jim has been open about his qualms with his wife spending too much time working outside of the home. Guess Alexis got her way!
