Though it’s only been days since the revelation that troubled Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Kim Richards once again had checked into rehab to deal with an alcohol problem and other issues, fans are already wondering if she’ll be out in time to attend the show’s end-of-season reunion. Wetpaint Entertainment has learned which dates are now being considered for the reunion — and why a show insider thinks Kim is better off staying away.
“As of now, the two dates being considered are January 5 or January 7,” a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills insider tells Wetpaint Entertainment. If Kim entered rehab in early December, she likely won’t be out by then. However, even if she’s still in an inpatient program, she could request to leave for the day to film the reunion (rehabs sometimes allow patients to take supervised leaves to attend to medical, legal, or work commitments) but the insider thinks it would be a terrible idea.
“The reunions are super high-anxiety environments,” the insider explains. “Old grudges and feelings of anger and resentment are brought up and rehashed in detail. It’s not a good atmosphere for someone in a fragile state.”
But there’s a strong reason Kim may want to attend despite the risks. Says the insider, “Housewives receive a big financial bonus for doing the reunion. It’s a nice sum of money — not chump change. That’s why it was so shocking to me when Jacqueline Laurita skipped the New Jersey reunion a few months back. In doing so, she forfeited a huge paycheck.”
According to reports, Kim could use the money. Until she went to rehab, she had reportedly been homeless and staying with family members, having moved out of Ken Blumenfeld's house. The insider hopes Kim’s inner circle will urge her to skip the reunion. “In my opinion,” says the insider. “It’s the last thing she needs right now.”
