On the Nov. 28 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, mogul and fashionista Adrienne Maloof unveiled her first shoe line – a 22-piece collection she partnered with iconic designer Charles Jourdan to create. The fabulous footwear will debut in December at Macy’s and Lord & Taylor stores around the country, Belk stores in south, on the website Isaay.com and, of course, numerous boutiques in Las Vegas including the Maloof-owned Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She exclusively opened up to Wetpaint Entertainment about her inspiration for the line and her future hopes of starting her own label.
“I’ve wanted to be a shoe designer since I was a little girl,” Adrienne tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “When I got the offer to be on Housewives, I said to myself, ‘That’s what I want to do with my platform. I want to create beautiful shoes.’”
“When the team at Charles Jourdan heard that shoes were something I was passionate about, they approached me," she adds. "Of course I said yes.”
But while Charles Jourdan shoes are normally uber-expensive, it was important to Adrienne that her collection not cost an arm and a leg. Says Adrienne, “I wanted to give women the quality that the Maloof and the Charles Jourdan names are famous for, but at affordable prices.” The result: heels and flats for women who love Adrienne’s Beverly Hills style, but don’t have access to her bank account! (The shoes start at $149.)
“I love a beautiful heel,” Adrienne says. “The higher the heel, the closer you are to God. But being a mom and being on the go, I can appreciate a stylish flat or a flat boot.”
With rave reviews coming in from this first collection, Adrienne hopes to soon branch out on her own. “Eventually, I would love my own line,” she says.
And it looks like her idea to design shoes may have inspired a co-star to do the same. On the Nov. 28 episode of RHoBH, Lisa Vanderpump dubbed Adrienne’s line the “Maloof Hoofs” and declared that she wanted to start her own collection! “Watch out, Maloof Hoof,” she warned. “The Vander Pump is on its way…to kick your ass!” Ouch!
Lisa does have plans to release her own shoe, a suede heel that will be available in 2012. The Vander Pump will retail for $902.
