Before she knew it, Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson had a new son-in-law. Her daughter, Briana, headed to Vegas with fiancé Ryan Culberson for a quickie elopement — which shocked Vicki and everyone else on the show.

The couple is currently expecting their first son and has since gone through with an official ceremony. Now Ryan’s speaking out about what made him and Bri rush into marriage and what it’s like for him, as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps, to appear on the show as a guest star.

In an interview with the Marine Corps Times, Ryan explained that the reason he and Briana wed so quickly was an easy decision for them, given what they’d been through together. “I think the deployment and her health are the main reasons we did this,” he said. “Knowing she was cancer-free and me coming back from deployments … it just made sense.”
 

Ryan, who admits he knew very little about the show before getting together with Briana, says that his now-frequent cameos have his fellow Marines chuckling. “They say they’re going to change my call sign to ‘Housewife Y’ … Most of my superiors’ wives watch it, so they’ll see me on TV and ask if I had makeup on.” Hilarious!

 

It’s all worth it to him, it seems, because what drew him to Briana in the first place was how “normal” and “girl next door” still is, despite her reality TV stardom.

Vicki might have been upset with Briana for rushing into marrying Ryan, but she must love how he feels about her daughter!
