UPDATE: Kyle Richards hit back at the rumors herself when AllAboutTRH posted to Twitter about the supposed feud between Kyle and Lisa Vanderpump stemming from competing spinoff shows. "omg. NO. Nothing to do with that!" Kyle tweeted. We'll take Kyle's word over an anonymous source any day!
The writing was on the wall for Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards' friendship throughout the third season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as it was obviously coming apart at the seams. Most of the blame has been attributed to Lisa's friendship with Brandi Glanville, but according to Hollywood Life, there was much more to it than that.
A source explains professional jealousy seems to have played a role in their crumbling friendship.
“Kyle and her husband [Mauricio Umansky] shot a pilot of sorts for a spinoff show based around his real estate business at the same time Lisa was shooting Vanderpump Rules," the insider said. "They were in competition, from what I understand, because the network wanted to to add a spin off from the Beverly Hills franchise and decided to put Lisa and Kyle to the test.”
After Lisa's show was picked up and Kyle's was not, the animosity and jealousy reportedly increased between the former friends. Ultimately, all that led to complications in their friendship because of how deeply Kyle and her husband were supposedly hurt by the rejection of their show.
The source commented further on the strange relationship the cast members have with each other.
“These girls will smile in each other’s faces and pretend to care about one another — that’s why you see Kyle crying at the drop of a dime. But there’s so much competition and cattiness going on, it’s scary.”
