On June 26, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional, which means that the government can't deny federal benefits to legally married same-sex couples. The Supreme Court also upheld an earlier ruling from a California court deeming Proposition 8 unconstitutional, meaning that gay couples can now legally marry in the Golden State.

While the Real Housewives of New Jersey are on the other side of the country, they were all deeply affected by yesterday’s ruling. Caroline Manzo — whose brother Jamie married his partner in a beautiful wedding on RHoNJ last season — was very excited, tweeting, “Love is a beautiful thing! equality for all  :0) lets applaud progress!”

Kathy Wakile, whose sister Rosie came out on the show last season, was also equally overjoyed. “History was made! Americans should feel #Pride for #LGBT rights! Progress is being made #EqualityForAll #NYCPrideWeek,” she shared on Twitter.

And although Teresa Giudice didn’t have any words of her own to offer, she retweeted a wonderful message from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, who wrote, “Yes!!! What an incredible day! So happy to see this day finally is here! #equality #DOMA #prop8 #LoveIsLove.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
