Just hours after news broke that Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe, were indicted on 39 charges relating to the family’s personal finances, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is breaking her silence.
Altogether, Teresa and Joe were charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud, and if convicted of everything, they could face more than 50 years behind bars.
Tre is fully aware of the seriousness of this case and has every intention of standing by her husband, telling Us Weekly, “Today is a most difficult day for our family. I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me.”
And as can be expected, the Jersey mama isn’t going down without a fight either. “I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the government as quickly as possible.”
Still, various government officials have already commented on the severity of these charges, including U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman, who brought the 39 charges against the couple. “Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when dealing with the courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or mortgages. That's reality,” he said in a statement.
Both Teresa and Joe are set to appear before Judge Cathy Waldor in a Newark, N.J. courtroom on July 30, and according to Teresa’s lawyer, Henry Klingeman, the reality star plans to plead not guilty.
“The judicial process that begins today with an indictment is a search for the truth. As it moves forward, we look forward to vindicating her,” he said. There’s no word yet on how Joe will plead.
What do you think if the Giudice’s latest legal saga?
