Reality starlet and new recording artist Melissa Gorga has been defending herself both on The Real Housewives of New Jersey and in the wake of her recent book release. But 10 days after Love Italian Style was released, Melissa feels that standing by her thoughts on marriage and her hubby Joe Gorga are most important.

In her latest BravoTV blog, the mother of three spent the first four pages outlining some of the problems feminists and the site Jezebel had with her book and why she feels she’s justified in writing what she did.

The site accused Joe Gorga of “marital rape” after pulling out a section from Melissa’s book where she wrote that women liked to be “taken” regardless of whether they say they’re up for sex or not.

That portion of the book was written by Joe, and Melissa quickly defended her hubby in the blog saying, “His point is that women like feeling taken -- within the trust and safety of a mutually respectful relationship. Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey can attest that there's a difference between racy and ‘rapey.’ When Joe and I talk about dominance and submission, it's racy.”

She also clarified that Joe has never forced sex on her before saying, “When I am not in the mood, Joe doesn’t force me to do ANYTHING.”

Melissa pointed out that the Jezebel reporter didn’t include Joe’s thoughts on offering up a massage, kiss, or hug if your partner isn’t in the mood in order to stay intimate.

She also admitted that she is dependent on Joe and she likes it that way.

“You bet I need him, and he needs me,” she wrote. “I’m proud of that! Our family is our world. We turn to each other for support, love, and affection.”

Melissa also noted that some fans claim she has Joe whipped while others claim he’s controlling her.

“I do find it ironic that some viewers of the show say that Joe is my puppet, and then criticize my book and say that he’s a control freak rapist,” she continued. “The truth is: he’s a passionate, red-blooded man who loves and respects me, just as I love and respect him.”

It’s nice to see that Melissa’s so passionate about her relationship and her book, and she certainly does make some good points.

Do you think Melissa was right to print those thoughts on marriage or are her views out of line? Weigh in below!
