There might be some heartache involved, and, of course, a healthy amount of drama, but the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast certainly reaps the benefits of their time in the spotlight. Each star has created their own brand, and Kathy Wakile is no exception. She recently sat down with OK! magazine to talk about her rapidly expanding dessert business and cookbook.
As for whether the tasty treats will be sold in retail stores or restaurants, Kathy told OK!, “It’s going to be both. It’s going to be where people can go and have a meal and know that the restaurant is serving my desserts. With retail, hand in hand, especially in big travel cities.”
Kathy says she has learned a ton about business since she started out, telling OK! that she found out that these ventures take time, and you shouldn’t rush into anything without doing your research.
“Get a good team behind you who can show you the ropes along the way without holding you hostage to what they know,” Kathy said by way of advice to others.
When OK!’s Kaitlin Menza asked her if she missed cooking because she’s now doing so much traveling, Kathy said, “Whenever I have a free day, I’m in my kitchen and I’ve got my computer next to me and I’m testing out recipes. I’m testing a recipe 2-3 times. I need to make them fool proof. So I’m cooking all the time. The family still has to eat. I’m cooking every day. For me, it’s a release. Cooking is my therapy.”
We can’t help but wonder what she thinks about fellow castmate Teresa Giudice's recent revelation that her signature line of Fabulicious is expanding into coffee and desserts. Perhaps Kathy’s not sweating it, what with that pesky fact that Teresa is probably a bit distracted by her upcoming freud trial.
What do you think of Kathy’s dessert business? Do you think she actually know what she’s doing or is she simply getting a leg up because she’s a reality star?
