Real Housewives of New Jersey fans have been following Teresa and Joe Giudice's legal troubles with bated breath. The reality stars have been charged with 41 counts of fraud and other financial crimes, and will eventually head to court (the trial date keeps getting pushed back, as of now it's in April). If convicted, they could face up to 50 years in jail each. But are these legal woes the stuff reality TV entertainment is made of?

The Real Housewives franchise isn't afraid to shy away from harsh truths, and Andy Cohen has hinted that we'll hear all about how the Giudices’ legal troubles have affected their lives on Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 6, which is currently filming.

It sounds like the topic definitely won't be avoided, but is a serious legal trial something the show should really be focusing on?

In general, the fun of the Real Housewives shows is watching big personalities fight over nothing, make snarky comments in the talking head sections, and occasionally have some real heartfelt moments. There's an escapist joy in the antics of the wealthy, and we're all for big drama when it means Teresa’s going to flip a table. But when it means the Giudice family could be ripped apart in front of our eyes? Even if you believe Teresa and Joe are guilty, nothing about this situation screams fun.

That said, it is the biggest thing happening in Teresa's life, and it would feel weird for the show to ignore it. And, even if it's not fluffy entertainment, it will probably be interesting to watch the cast react to everything that's going on.

So what do you think: Should the Giudices' legal woes be a big theme in Season 6, or do you hope the show focuses on other drama?
