The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 6 debuted with a refreshed cast and some major-real life legal drama hanging over the head of Teresa Giudice, but that wasn't able to save the show from its worst ever premiere ratings in the coveted 18-49 demo.

As TV By the Numbers reports, the Season 6 premiere drew in just 2.1 million viewers, down from 2.84 for the Season 5 premiere, and 2.95 for Season 4, which was the show's highest ever premiere. Meanwhile, it got only a .9 in the 18-49 demo. Last season, the show had an average of 1.3 in demo.

So, what does this mean for the future of the show? It's hard to know. It's possible the ratings will pick back up as the season goes on, especially if the newbies end up providing entertaining drama. And Real Housewives of New York has averaged at .9 or below in demo since Season 4, and it's still on the air, so we're not saying Real Housewives of New Jersey is about to get cancelled.

Still, this can't be the news the RHONJ Powers That Be were hoping for. Let's hope things get better from here. If you liked the premiere, tell your friends to tune in!
